After 9 months of searching, I received a job offer but await my dream job decision

I finally got an offer after an exhausting 9 months of job searching! I submitted 237 applications and went through 6 interviews, but it paid off. I'm really grateful for this community for the support along the way. However, I'm currently in a bit of a dilemma. I've received an offer from one company, and I've sent in the paperwork for it, with training set to start in mid-August. But I'm also waiting to hear back from my dream job, which is a big company with a great reputation. They mentioned that they’re just waiting for someone to return to town, so I could be waiting another week or two for their decision. They've assured me that I'm a strong candidate, but I know that doesn’t guarantee an offer. My concern is whether I would face any penalties if I decide to refuse the offer I currently have, especially since it would be before training begins and they would have time to find someone else. I'm new to the Canadian job market, and I want to make sure I handle this correctly without any repercussions. For anyone else searching, I found both jobs on Indeed, although the postings were for different roles. The first position was bilingual, which I don't qualify for, but they considered me for another role that opened up. The dream job was initially for a field position, but they reached out for an office/phone role instead, which wasn't even posted. So, I guess my experience shows that sometimes applying broadly can lead to unexpected opportunities. I'm just hoping for the best outcome now!
