I recently attended a virtual job fair, hoping to find some opportunities as I transition into a new career after going back to school. I was surprised to discover that the event seemed to focus exclusively on senior positions, with no entry-level roles available at all. This felt counterproductive to the purpose of job fairs, which I thought was to assist those who are actively seeking jobs, particularly newcomers or those changing careers like myself. None of my friends with significant experience—around 8 to 10 years—were even interested in attending these events, which makes me wonder if they're truly beneficial. I had initially planned to take a contract position overseas with the military after my enlistment, but that fell through due to political issues. I'm curious to hear about others' experiences with job fairs and would appreciate any advice on navigating this challenging job market.
