I recently accepted a great engineering role at a mid-sized tech company (Company A) that starts in about a month. The pay is significantly higher than my current job, and I was excited to move forward. However, out of the blue, I received an email from a recruiter at a global Tier-1 consulting firm (Company B) that I had interviewed with months ago. They want to discuss next steps, and this has thrown me into a bit of a dilemma. I'm trying to figure out how to handle this situation without jeopardizing my offer with Company A. I have a call scheduled with the recruiter from Company B tomorrow, and I want to convey that I have an active offer with a tight timeline without revealing that I've already signed a contract. Additionally, I'm concerned about the implications of potentially quitting Company A within the first three months if Company B eventually extends an offer. I know that during the probation period, either side can part ways without penalties, but I don't want to burn any bridges. I'm also thinking ahead about how to respond if Company B inquires about my notice period after I've started at Company A. I want to be honest without coming off as a flight risk. I could really use some advice on how to navigate this situation without being unfair to Company A, especially since they have been so supportive during the interview process.
