I've been struggling with my job search lately and I'm trying to figure out how to turn my consistent effort into consistent job offers. In my last job search, I went through two interviews with no offers, then ten applications with no offers, and then twenty applications without any success. I'm really looking for a way to produce positive results that lead to actual job offers, but I want to do it without increasing the number of applications I submit. My goal is to reduce the volume of applications while raising my offer percentage. I've read some comments suggesting that the job application process can feel like a crapshoot, especially with AI monitoring applications. One person mentioned that they applied for nearly 400 jobs and only got 10 interviews, resulting in 3 offers and ultimately 1 job. It's disheartening to think that the numbers might not improve no matter how much I try. Another piece of advice I received was to completely revamp my resume and make it more targeted towards a specific type of role, rather than using a generic one. I was also advised to apply to jobs without customizing my resume for each application, which feels counterintuitive but might be worth a shot. I also struggle with nerves during interviews. I get so excited about the opportunity that I end up feeling anxious, even when I'm prepared. Interestingly, the jobs I've been successful in have been the ones where I felt more relaxed and treated the interview like a conversation, often after facing multiple rejections. Lastly, I've been told to rewrite my cover letter for each application instead of sending out the same one. It's a lot to think about, but I'm hoping that with some adjustments, I can see better results in my job search.
