I started my job at a mental health halfway home for older adults in April, and I'm very close to giving my two weeks' notice. Every day feels like a struggle due to the overwhelming workload, which I can handle, but the unhealthy patterns being ignored by management are becoming unbearable. I constantly have to bring issues to my supervisor's attention, but nothing seems to change. We have staff who are frequently late, and despite my supervisor's claims that she would fire them, nothing happens. There’s one person who consistently makes me stay until midnight because they show up late for my shift. Additionally, another coworker leaves the facility in disarray and even smokes weed around residents who are in active addiction, which is incredibly concerning. The director isn't much help either; many critical issues are brushed aside that could potentially lead to investigations, especially since we work with the state. I genuinely care about the residents, but the work environment is toxic, and I'm hesitant to quit because of the current job market. I feel stuck, wanting to leave but unsure about what my next steps should be.
