I’m currently working at a small, locally owned business in Florida, where I've been facing harassment from one of the assistant managers for nearly four years. This situation has been particularly challenging because there’s no HR department to report to, and despite my attempts to bring it to the attention of the general manager, no meaningful action has been taken. Each time I reported the bullying, it resulted in nothing more than a brief conversation that didn’t change anything. I’m aware that unaddressed harassment can provide grounds for unemployment benefits if I decide to quit, but my manager has informed me that he hasn’t kept any records of my complaints. The only documentation I have is from my therapist, but I’m unsure if that will be sufficient. I’m feeling quite hopeless about my situation and am unsure if I have any viable options for recourse.
