Processing unexpected layoff from X Company while on vacation

I just found out that I've been laid off from my job at X Company while I was on vacation. I'm 31 years old and this news hit me like a ton of bricks. I had sent an email to my work account from my personal email, thinking it would serve as a reminder for something I was working on. When I received the automated response, I initially thought nothing of it because I had set my out-of-office message. However, I noticed that the message had been edited to say I was no longer employed there, and to contact my manager instead. Earlier in the week, my boss had even texted me about a last-minute call, which I couldn't join due to the time difference and spotty Wi-Fi. He told me to enjoy my vacation, so this sudden news is really confusing. Just last month, I was promoted, and everything seemed to be going well. I had a great lunch with my boss last week, and there were no signs that anything was amiss. Now, I'm left trying to process this while still on vacation, and I’m not sure what to do next. Any advice or words of encouragement would really help right now.
