I'm feeling really defeated right now. I just received a meeting request from my manager to discuss concerns about my performance at my current job, where I've been for about a year. This is the fourth job I've had in the last three years, and it feels like I'm stuck in a cycle. At my first job, I was put on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) and then fired. At the second job, I was also on a PIP before I decided to quit. The third job ended with me being laid off due to organizational changes. Now, at my current job, I'm being asked to meet about my performance, and it's really weighing on me. I've been trying hard to improve, but I keep hearing the same feedback: poor attention to detail and communication issues. I thought I was doing well—attending all meetings, completing my projects, and even contributing meaningfully to the team. I was also verbally promised a promotion, which I didn't receive, and that really crushed my morale. I wanted to stay in this role for at least a year to avoid looking like a job hopper, but now I'm not sure I'll even make it that long. I genuinely need some advice. Should I consider switching career paths? I've been in the same role for almost five years, and I'm not sure how to pivot from here. Should I keep pushing through with my current job, even if it seems like I'm on the verge of being let go? I just want to find a way to turn this around.
