I work in a struggling company where everything seems to be falling apart. My department is the only one that hasn't been offshored, but we're still suffering. Other sectors are losing clients and money, and I've been putting in 50-70 hour weeks for the past year just to keep my clients and my job secure. Three months ago, I finally got some help when they promoted people internally to my position, but now they're refusing to backfill the roles that were vacated. I'm currently earning $90k, which is below the market rate of around $120k for my role. They justify the lower pay by saying I live in a low cost of living area, but it doesn't account for a $30k difference. Meanwhile, the company's leadership is living lavishly—our chairperson just bought a $41 million home, and board members are flaunting their wealth with luxury cars and extravagant weddings. It's disheartening to see such class disparity, especially when one of my employees just lost their home due to a rent increase. I'm fed up and ready for a change. Thankfully, I have several interviews lined up and hope to leave this toxic environment soon.
