I recently started a new job about 4 months ago, and while I really enjoy the company culture, my current role is not what I expected based on the interviews and job description. A new position has opened up internally that I'm very interested in and feel qualified for, but I'm concerned about how it might look to my current manager, who is great. I'm wondering if applying for this internal role would upset them and how I should explain my reasons for seeking a new position so soon if I get an interview. I've heard that some companies have policies about not transferring within a certain timeframe, so I'm also considering that aspect. I think I need to have a one-on-one with my boss to discuss my current role and express my interest in the new position.
