I recently found out that my company is going through a significant round of layoffs, affecting employees at all levels regardless of their performance. We're being given four months to transition out, followed by two months of severance. I’ve been thinking about whether it would be realistic to ask for a pay cut instead of facing a layoff. I would prefer to stay with the company, even if it means accepting a lower salary. I'm curious if anyone has successfully negotiated a similar situation and what the chances are of turning this layoff into a pay cut. I’m considering how to approach the conversation and what factors I should keep in mind.
