Today, I experienced a layoff from my internship, and I have mixed emotions about it. It was a six-month paid internship with a UK-based company, and I was working from home. Initially, I was excited about the opportunity, especially after I completed the trial period successfully and was told I was doing well. However, today my manager unexpectedly informed me that I had made several mistakes and that I could no longer continue. This was surprising to me, as I had previously been asked to correct errors made by others, which leaves me questioning the feedback I received. Despite the shock of being laid off, I can't help but feel a sense of relief. The internship had become quite hectic, with strict deadlines that I found overwhelming, and I wasn't really enjoying the work. I realize now that sometimes life pushes you in a new direction when you hesitate to make a change yourself. While it hurts to be let go, I think this might be a blessing in disguise, allowing me to seek opportunities that align better with my interests.
