Excited to Return for Summer Job After Miscommunication with Old Boss

I recently had an interesting turn of events regarding a seasonal job I applied for this spring. I had worked there for the past two summers and was eager to return. However, I never received a job offer or any indication that I was hired this year. After checking in with some friends who were hired, I learned they had received offers, which led me to believe I hadn’t gotten the position. Accepting that, I moved on and accepted another job. Then, out of the blue, I received an email from my old boss asking when my first shift would be. I was surprised because I thought I hadn’t been hired. After returning home from a trip, I responded to her email, explaining that I hadn’t received an offer and was under the impression I didn’t get the job. I expressed my continued interest in working as a substitute this summer and asked what I needed to do to make it happen. The next day, my boss replied and apologized for the mix-up. She thought she had sent me an offer but realized I must have slipped through the cracks. She mentioned they would love to have me back this summer and provided me with my new login info for the scheduling portal. I managed to pick up my first shifts this week! It turned out to be the best-case scenario, and I’m really happy to have some extra cash this summer. I appreciate all the advice I received during this process!
