Navigating challenges in my new Senior Lead role after a tough 30-day review

I recently started a new Senior Lead position at a company and just had my 30-day review. To be honest, it didn’t go as well as I hoped. With around 10 years of experience in the industry, I was confident stepping into this role, especially since I had a solid reputation as a team lead in my previous jobs. However, I’m currently the only person in this role, which adds to the pressure. During the review, my manager pointed out that my analysis of the company’s overall posture was inaccurate and that I didn’t follow his instructions closely enough. He mentioned that I relied too much on AI for generating my reports, which has shaken his confidence in my work. It’s frustrating because his instructions can be vague, and now he’s started giving me very detailed, step-by-step directions for tasks. I can’t help but feel that this is a sign he’s lost some trust in me. Communication has been tough since my manager is based in the US and I’m in Europe. We’ve only had three short meetings so far, each lasting about 20 minutes, which makes it hard to get the guidance I need. Ironically, he uses AI extensively for his own tasks, which adds to my confusion about the feedback I received. He reassured me that he doesn’t expect me to know everything right away and that he believes I can succeed, but he’s going to keep a closer eye on my work over the next few weeks. Unfortunately, he didn’t provide concrete steps for improvement, just vague suggestions to think better and have better judgment. I’m taking the criticism seriously and trying to improve, but I’m genuinely worried about my job security. I have a baby on the way and a bank loan, so losing this job would be a significant issue for me. I’ve already started looking for other opportunities, but I’m hoping to turn things around in my current position since the pay is good. I’d appreciate any advice from those who have managed employees or been in a similar situation. Am I in trouble?
