I recently got laid off from my job where I was teaching technical concepts virtually for about five years. I have an associate's degree in psychology and some IT certifications, but I'm feeling uncertain about my next steps. At 28, I've been working since I was 17, and this was my first real job that paid more than minimum wage. I'm considering going back to school, either to a university for a bachelor's degree or to a community college to take out loans and possibly get a student job. The thought of living in dorms is appealing, but I'm concerned about the financial implications, especially since my expected family contribution (EFC) will change. I'm questioning how beneficial a bachelor's in psychology would be for my career.
