Applied for a job after industry switch and had a promising interview experience

I recently applied for a job after switching industries and completely revamping my resume. My third application got a response from an employer on Indeed, who asked me to elaborate on my experience. I crafted a detailed reply, and they appreciated it, inviting me for a screening interview. The interview lasted 26 minutes and felt great; I confidently highlighted my relevant experience and connected well with the interviewer, even sharing a few laughs. At the end of the interview, the interviewer assured me they would contact me by Thursday regarding the next steps in the hiring process. However, it's now Sunday, and I haven't heard back. I even sent a follow-up message on Indeed on Friday afternoon asking for an update, but they haven't responded, despite the hiring manager being active online since then. I'm feeling frustrated and confused. Is it common for companies to ghost candidates after a face-to-face interview, especially when they promised to follow up? This is a first for me, and it’s disheartening to experience.
