I recently received a job offer for a new position starting on November 2nd. I want my last day at my current job to be October 30th so I can complete my hours and get paid for the full payroll cycle. However, I feel guilty because my boss is unaware of my plans to leave. Just last week, I called out sick to attend an in-person interview, and I'm worried that when I resign, he might connect the dots and think I was dishonest. Part of me is tempted to quit immediately and just get it over with, but I know financially it makes more sense to work through the 30th. I plan to give a two-week notice like I typically would, but this is a workplace where they might walk me out as soon as I announce my departure. I'm feeling really conflicted about what to do.
