I recently submitted my background screening application for a new job and realized I made a significant mistake in the timeline of my employment history. I worked at Company B for five years, but I was initially hired through Agency H. In my report, I listed my positions as follows: from November 2021 to June 2024 as a Trainee with Agency H, then from July 2024 to December 2025 as a JBM with Company B, and from January 2026 to the present as a BM with Company B. However, the correct timeline should have split my JBM role because I was still technically employed by Agency H during part of that time. The accurate breakdown is: Trainee with Agency H from November 2021 to June 2024, JBM with Agency H from July 2024 to April 2025, then JBM with Company B from May 2025 to December 2025, and finally BM with Company B from January 2026 to now. I’m really stressed about this mistake, as I fear it might make me look incompetent to my potential employer.
