I received an email from my manager at my current job, which I found quite frustrating. My last day is next week, and the email was sent to all staff, addressing the need to limit conversations in the office. I’ve already secured a new job, and while I'm leaving on good terms, this email left a bad taste in my mouth. We work from home three days a week and are in the office two days. When I started, it was one day a week, but they changed it to two for 'collaboration,' which seems ironic now since they don’t want us to collaborate. There are about 10-15 of us in the office daily, and while some coworkers chat, it’s never excessive. We work in a stressful field, and talking to each other is a way to relieve some of that stress after dealing with upset clients. The email seemed to target those who might be talking too much, but I wear headphones while working and only engage in brief conversations about weekends or quick check-ins. The manager's approach feels unnecessary, especially after I overheard a supervisor yelling at coworkers for simply asking about promotions. I’m contemplating whether to respond professionally on my last day, but part of me thinks it might just stir the pot. I want to maintain my professionalism, but this situation has been quite frustrating.
