I was just fired from my hospital job where I worked for nearly three years. The termination was unexpected and entirely my fault; I thought I would just receive a write-up instead. Now, I have two months' worth of bills saved up, which isn't much, and I'm feeling the pressure. I'm considering taking a weekend trip to Austin, which is about three hours away, and I would spend no more than $300. I feel like I need a break after this abrupt change, but I also struggle with the idea of treating myself when I know the situation is my responsibility. I had planned a vacation for September with 100 hours of PTO, but now I’m torn between staying home to apply for new jobs or taking the trip to clear my head. I could really use some advice on whether this would be a wise decision.
