I've been working at my current job for 3 months now, and it's my first role since graduating college. Unfortunately, I find myself doing nothing all day, and my boss seems indifferent to the situation. I'm essentially a team of one, with no opportunity to assist others or take on additional tasks, which leaves me feeling stagnant. While I appreciate the $78k salary in a high cost of living area and the fact that I can save a lot since I'm living rent-free with my parents, I'm starting to feel the weight of boredom and lack of growth. I've even managed to get one work-from-home day approved, which has made the monotony a bit more bearable, but I can only read and do crosswords for so long before it drives me crazy. I’m currently in the interview process with another company, and this has prompted me to consider how long I should stay in this low-stress but ultimately meaningless job. The new opportunity would pay about the same, but it comes with the added challenge of relocating and paying rent in a slightly lower cost of living area. However, I would be joining a real team and have the potential for promotions, which is something I desperately need. I'm torn between staying in my comfortable but unfulfilling position or taking the plunge into a new role that offers more engagement and growth.
