Excited for a new job opportunity but facing tough goodbyes and relocation challenges

After seven weeks of searching, I’m fortunate to have landed a new job, but it comes with a bittersweet twist. I have to relocate four hours away from my current home, which is in a high cost of living area and an oversaturated job market. This new place is unfamiliar to me, and I’ll be leaving behind a close family member and a friend I’ve known for over 25 years. While I’m excited about the opportunity ahead, I’m feeling emotional tonight because I have to break the news to my daughter tomorrow. I need to tell her that she won’t be returning to her old school in a few weeks, and that we’re packing up to move. It’s just the two of us, and although she’ll understand one day, it’s tough to see her face when I share this news. I’m just feeling a mix of gratitude for the job and sadness for the changes ahead.
