I recently laid myself off from a company where I worked for just three months. From the start, it was clear that the organization was disorganized and chaotic. My experience began with a rushed interview process; after a screening, they pushed my second round interview to the same day. I was disconnected multiple times before finally speaking with my potential supervisor, who asked if I could start the next day. I agreed, but what followed was a series of frustrating experiences. The company felt like a startup in turmoil, with leadership constantly putting out fires and a complete lack of structure. I was bombarded with urgent marketing requests, their website was in dire need of basic updates, and every marketing piece was filled with errors. There was confusion about who had access to social media accounts, and I rarely saw leadership for guidance or feedback. After a particularly frustrating encounter with HR, who downplayed my workload, I decided to quit. Surprisingly, they didn’t even notice I was gone after three days. It was unprofessional, but I learned a valuable lesson: never ignore the obvious red flags!
