I recently got laid off from my position as a Unity game developer after over 8 years of experience in Unity and C#. The layoff was due to company restructuring, primarily financial issues, not related to AI. I've started my job search, but I'm quickly realizing that the market is quite challenging right now, and finding a stable position is proving difficult. Thankfully, I received a severance package that will support me for a few months, but I know I need to come up with a more solid plan moving forward. I'm reaching out to fellow game developers or anyone who has faced a similar situation for advice on both short-term and long-term income ideas. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
