I started a new contract job just four days ago, after being unemployed for two months. I took this position because it was the best option I had at the time, but since starting, I've actually received more interview opportunities. I have an interview scheduled for this Monday at 11 AM, which is a 45-minute drive away from my current job, and unfortunately, my current position isn't conveniently located for me to make it back home in time. I'm in a bit of a dilemma about how to handle this with my current recruiter. I want to be honest since they know this is a short-term gig, but I'm unsure if I should just call in sick after the weekend or come up with a different excuse. I found out about the interview late Friday afternoon, so I didn't have much time to prepare a solid reason for missing work. I'm leaning towards calling in sick, as it seems like the simplest option.
