Applied for new jobs while struggling with burnout and health issues in customer service

I'm feeling incredibly burnt out at my customer service job where I've been for the past three years. The role and the long commute are really taking a toll on me, and I've been struggling with health issues like fatigue and recurring sickness. My mental health is suffering the most; I sometimes deal with suicidal thoughts when I'm particularly exhausted. Although I get along with my coworkers, the workplace culture is toxic, and I feel guilty taking time off, even when I really need to rest. The workload is heavy, and when I'm not there, my coworker struggles to keep up, which adds to the stress. I'm so drained after work that I can hardly spend time with friends or family. Even when I do manage to go out on the weekends, I'm left feeling tired and behind for the entire week. I know it would be hard to find another job right now; I've already applied to a few places without success. The idea of leaving without a backup plan terrifies me, especially since I have a good salary that I'm grateful for. I want to take a break to focus on my health and spend quality time with loved ones, but I'm worried about being unemployed for an extended period and potentially landing in a worse situation. I'm in my early 20s and living with my parents, which gives me some security, but I don't want to jeopardize my future finances. I've been wanting to leave for a while now, and despite numerous doctor visits, my health hasn't improved. I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has left a job without a backup and how they managed during their job search. How long did it take to find something new?
