I've been reworking my resume after two years of job searching with no offers and about eight interviews. Currently, I'm working as a substitute teacher just to pay the bills, but I want to get back into event planning. I'm stuck on whether to include my substitute job on my resume since it's completely irrelevant to the field I'm targeting. I can't imagine how to phrase my experience managing classroom behavior in a way that would interest a potential employer in event planning. My next bullet point is about my non-profit work where I served on the board for a year, which is more aligned with my career goals. I'm feeling frustrated because I want to present myself well, but I also need to show that I'm employed without drawing attention to a job that doesn't reflect my true aspirations.
