I recently had a frustrating experience while applying for a cashier position at a local supermarket. The hiring manager seemed to like me during the interview and even joked about my long commute. However, things took a turn when HR got involved. After the interview, I didn’t hear back for days, despite leaving multiple voicemails. When I finally received a text from HR, it was only two hours before the scheduled onboarding, which was impossible for me to attend on such short notice. I expressed my concerns, but HR's response was dismissive, wishing me luck with my new job. I felt like HR had it out for me from the start, and now I'm left wondering if I have any chance of being rehired since the hiring manager liked me. I’m also newly certified as a pharmacy technician and really want to work at this supermarket because it's convenient and pays well. Should I reach out to the hiring manager to discuss my situation, or should I just apply again and see what happens? I’m unsure of how to navigate this, especially if I encounter similar issues in the future.
