I was laid off for 9 months and recently accepted a job offer that was lower than I expected, but I needed to provide for my family. I've only been in this new position for about 2 weeks when I received a call from another company I interviewed with. They apologized for the delay in their hiring process and offered me a verbal offer that is about $23k more than my current salary, along with better benefits since it's local government adjacent. Now, I'm in a dilemma about whether to put in my notice at my current job or just leave. I know I need to do what's best for my family, and this new position is a much better opportunity for us. However, I’m waiting until I get a written offer and clear the background and drug tests before making any decisions. I really can’t afford to be unemployed again.
