Navigating Job Security Anxiety as a Young Software Tester After Layoff

I recently experienced a rollercoaster of emotions regarding my job security as a software tester. At 23 years old, I faced my first layoff just a few weeks ago, which completely shattered my confidence and opened my eyes to how fragile job security can be in this industry. Fortunately, last week I received the news that my layoff was cancelled, and I was offered a chance to move to another project within the same company, which I gladly accepted. However, instead of feeling relieved, I find myself stuck in a state of anxiety and uncertainty. Every day at the office, I can't shake the feeling of being on the brink of another layoff. I constantly question my worth and whether I truly belong in this role. It's disheartening to realize that despite my hard work, I feel like I'm just an average engineer trying to navigate a landscape where being average might not be enough. Now, I'm grappling with the decision of whether to continue proving myself in this unpredictable industry or to explore other career paths altogether. I wonder if the fear of job loss ever truly goes away for those who have faced similar situations. How do you rebuild your confidence and trust in your career after such experiences?
