Reflecting on Microsoft's Exit Packages and Job Market Uncertainty

Today, I found myself reflecting on the recent news about Microsoft offering exit packages to around 60,000 employees. It's a bit unsettling, and I can't help but wonder what others are doing in response. I've been with the company for several years now, and the thought of voluntary retirement is daunting. What would I even say to my next employer? That I accepted an exit package during a turbulent time? From what I've gathered, many people at FAANG companies have faced similar situations, and it seems that only a small percentage, maybe 10%, actually take these offers. It's hard to imagine willingly leaving a high-paying job at such a prestigious company, especially in this job market. I guess those who might consider it are either already planning to leave or are close to retirement. It would be quite the scenario if everyone decided to take the exit package, though! Just a lot to think about as the uncertainty looms.
