Navigating disappointment after missing out on a job promotion opportunity

I recently went through a tough experience at my job where I was considered for a promotion but ultimately wasn't selected. This was particularly disheartening for me because it was the first time I had been given a real opportunity to advance my career. My management had expressed their confidence in my performance and encouraged me to apply for this upper-level role, which I was incredibly excited about. The position promised better pay, a more favorable schedule, and the chance to take on more responsibilities, something I've been craving for years. I passed the initial stage of the application process, which gave me a lot of hope. However, the next stage required me to complete a task that aligned with the new role. Unfortunately, the instructions I received were minimal, leaving me to figure things out on my own. I felt like I did my best under the circumstances, but when I received the automatic email stating that I wasn't moving forward, it hit me hard. This experience has left me feeling stressed and unmotivated at work. I usually enjoy my job, but now I dread going in every day. I'm grappling with feelings of inadequacy and questioning whether I'm ready for more responsibility. It's been a tough few days, and I'm struggling to regain my motivation. I'm not sure how to handle this situation or if my feelings are normal, but I know I need to find a way to move forward.
