Applied for new job opportunities to transition from IT security role in Puerto Rico

I'm currently working in a low-level IT security role focused on access management, earning $17.75 an hour in Puerto Rico. I've been in this position for four years, and I was hoping it would lead to more opportunities, but unfortunately, that hasn't been the case. I've applied to numerous jobs, both locally and in the states, but I've mostly been ghosted by recruiters. Sometimes they invite me to apply only to disappear afterward. My dad believes that obtaining Google certificates will open doors for me in the job market by 2026, but I'm skeptical. While I understand that certifications can enhance my marketability, I feel that my experience should carry more weight. I'm looking for a general career change, not just to advance within IT, and I want to know if these certifications will genuinely help me or if I should focus on gaining more relevant experience instead.
