I had a bizarre job interview experience that I need to share. Back in April, a staffing agency recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn with a couple of job postings. I was interested in a temp-to-perm role since I had been unemployed since September. The recruiter contacted the client, and they wanted to schedule an interview urgently, even though I was about to leave town for the weekend. I reluctantly agreed to meet in person after 4:00 p.m. on the day of my return, despite my preference for a Zoom meeting. When I arrived at the interview location, I noticed there was no business name outside the suite, only a Ring doorbell camera. After waiting a few minutes, a woman finally opened the door and led me to another office. She introduced me to a lady who was supposed to interview me, but she didn’t even introduce herself and made it clear it wasn’t her job to conduct the interview. I was confused and asked her name, and she told me to call her Amy. She mentioned that Stella was the one who brought me over, and I was supposed to meet her as well. The interview was awkward from the start. Amy reviewed my resume but kept insisting it wasn’t her responsibility to interview me. I mentioned I was also supposed to meet someone named Charles, and she suggested rescheduling. However, since I was already there, I agreed to meet Charles. When he arrived, he also seemed unaware of my interview. The whole time, Amy complained about the software and work structure, making the atmosphere even more uncomfortable. Stella eventually came in but had no questions for me, stating that if we were wrapping up, her job was done. I left the interview feeling frustrated and called the recruiter immediately, expressing my dissatisfaction. She claimed they had a long-standing relationship with that client and had never encountered issues before. Later, I found out from another staffing agency that the last person they placed there quit halfway through their first day. I decided not to pursue any further opportunities with that company.
