I currently work part-time as an Administrative Assistant at a small government office, but I've just been informed that my role is being dissolved. The Village Administrator plans to replace it with a full-time Customer Service Representative position. To be honest, I feel like this change is a bit of a demotion, especially since the title 'Customer Service Representative' seems less prestigious than 'Administrative Assistant.' However, the new job description includes a lot more responsibilities than what I currently handle, and the pay would remain about the same with added benefits. I’ve been given the opportunity to take the new role first, which is a plus. Interestingly, the current full-time Administrative Assistant is being promoted to an Executive Assistant position, meaning that many of their previous responsibilities will now fall on the new CSR role. I’m trying to weigh my options and figure out if this change is a step forward or a step back.
