Navigating Start Date Communication for a New Job Offer

I'm in the process of considering a new role with a different company and I'm trying to figure out the best way to communicate my start date. I'm thinking of saying my start date will be two weeks from when I accept the offer, but I'm a bit anxious about it because I still need to complete the job screening activities, like background checks and health screenings. I have a good feeling that I'll pass these checks, but it feels risky to resign from my current job without having everything finalized. I've seen some advice suggesting that I should wait until all the pre-employment requirements are completed before I give my two weeks' notice. Others have mentioned that it's reasonable to ask my new employer how long these checks usually take, and to set a start date accordingly, perhaps a bit further out to account for any delays. I want to be upfront with the new company about my need to provide proper notice to my current employer after all checks are cleared. I think this approach will help avoid any awkwardness if there are delays in the onboarding process. I'm just trying to navigate this transition smoothly.
