I was let go from my job a few days ago, and honestly, I don't mind it too much. The past two years had me severely burned out, and I was dealing with daily PTSD that took a toll on my health. I found no joy in my work, and even vacations felt like I was just zoning out. I took the role primarily for the salary, which in hindsight might have been a mistake because I felt stagnant. I performed well in the first couple of years and even earned two promotions, but personal issues last year, including health problems with my parents and a breakup with my long-term girlfriend, affected my focus and performance. Despite pushing through and trying to recover over the last four months, my manager decided to let me go. I realize now that I should have recognized the signs earlier, but I was too depressed to think clearly. Thankfully, I have enough savings to last about 8-9 months if I cut down on expenses, and my family and wife are supportive, so I don't feel completely doomed. The job market is tough right now, but I’m feeling optimistic about finding something new. My current company has a voluntary separation agreement that won’t disclose my termination, which is a relief. I've mostly processed the loss and even managed to spend 8-9 hours yesterday preparing for my job search.
