I recently received an offer for a contractor role that has the potential to convert to a full-time employee (FTE) position. The job is fully remote, W2, and comes with a significant pay increase, which is very appealing. However, I'm currently in a stable job where I go into the office four times a week, so leaving that for a six-month contractor role feels risky. The recruiter assured me that it would most likely convert to FTE, but I can't shake the feeling that it's sketchy. I dislike the idea that the employer doesn't trust me enough to start as a full-time employee right away; it seems to benefit them more than me. On the plus side, since it's a W2 role, I will receive benefits and won't have to deal with self-employment taxes. I'm feeling really stressed about making this decision and would appreciate any insights from others who have been in a similar situation.
