I just got back from a three-week training course that I thought would help me advance in my role. I've been working at my current company for two years, and I was really looking forward to applying what I learned. However, when I returned, I found someone else sitting at my desk being trained to do my job. It was a shocking moment. Shortly after, my boss called me into their office and informed me that my last day would be August 3rd. They claimed they could no longer afford to keep me in my position and that the person being trained was just a temporary fill. I'm feeling extremely frustrated and unsure about my next steps.
