Applied for new Junior Financial Analyst role after recent layoff and challenges

I was recently laid off from my Junior Financial Analyst position after just six weeks. I had left my previous job for this new opportunity, seeking better pay, mentorship, and a clear path for career progression. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse shortly after I started. At my last company, I had just completed my three-month probationary period when my manager was let go. I took on a significant amount of his responsibilities, including budgeting, month-end close, and reporting, but when I approached the CFO about a raise or title adjustment, I was told I wasn’t ready for it. Eventually, they hired a Director of Finance who recognized my underpayment and hinted at a future raise, but by then, I had already accepted an offer from a private equity-backed home services company that promised a 30% salary increase, a bonus, and a direct reporting line to the CFO with a potential promotion to Senior Financial Analyst after 120 days. However, just as I was settling in, the CFO was fired on my third day. I was reassigned to report to the Controller, and my onboarding plan quickly unraveled. One of my main tasks was to create a daily revenue report. With the Controller's approval, I collaborated with IT to automate the process using Power Query, moving away from the cumbersome manual entries by 20 branch managers. Despite my efforts, the CEO criticized the report's layout and file size during a Teams meeting, requesting a specific format. I rebuilt the report to his specifications but didn’t hear back for over a week. To my surprise, I later found out that a staff accountant had been instructed to create a manual version without my knowledge. When I was assigned to distribute this version, I discovered it was riddled with incorrect entries and missing submissions, leading to totals that didn’t match our CRM. Ultimately, I was informed that my position was being eliminated, and I was offered three weeks of severance. It's incredibly frustrating to leave a job in search of mentorship and growth, only to have both vanish almost immediately. Now, I'm back to updating my résumé and diving into the job search much sooner than I had anticipated.
