I am currently a rising senior majoring in business with a focus on analytics and information systems. My college program is well-regarded, but I find myself without any formal internship or work experience, which I know is a significant disadvantage in today’s job market. I’m not particularly fond of the tech-heavy aspects of my degree, and my coding skills are not strong, which limits my job prospects. Given the challenging job landscape, I've started considering a shift to nursing. I’m currently taking prerequisite classes over the summer to apply for accelerated nursing programs in the fall, and I'm performing well in those courses. I have a genuine interest in the health field, whether in a business or clinical capacity, and I believe my business background could be an asset in that area. Now, I’m at a crossroads: I can either stay for my final year and switch my focus to corporate finance and analytics, which might help me build my resume and improve my chances in the job market, or I can graduate early to save on rent and tuition and jump straight into the job market or nursing school. Regardless of the path I choose, I plan to apply to nursing school. I’ve noticed that even my peers who have completed internships are struggling to secure full-time positions, which makes me anxious about my own prospects. I know I’m capable and intelligent, but I feel frustrated waiting for opportunities to present themselves.
