Facing anxiety and uncertainty after a company-wide layoff announcement

I can feel the anxiety building as I head into the office today. I was on PTO from Monday to Wednesday, but yesterday morning, the company sent out a mass email announcing a 43% reduction in force (RIF). It stated that employees would either receive an invite to a company town hall or a meeting request from their manager and HR. I didn't get the town hall invite, so I already know what that means for me. I'm dreading this moment, knowing that I might be among those laid off. I carry the health insurance for my family, and to make matters worse, I have brain surgery scheduled for next month. I’ve only been with this biotech company for seven months, and I can't believe I'm facing this again after being unemployed for several months last year due to a similar RIF. This industry has been brutal, and I’ve made a vow to myself that I will never work in biotech again. The uncertainty is overwhelming, and I just want to get through this day.
