Navigating the Confusion of a Layoff Experience and Seeking Clarity

I was recently laid off from my position, and the experience was quite surreal. When I was called into the room with HR, my manager delivered the news in just a couple of sentences, which felt abrupt. After that, I was left with the HR representative who proceeded to read a lengthy script filled with details about the layoff process. Honestly, I found it frustrating and hard to focus on all the information being thrown at me. I didn't mind the layoff itself, but the way it was delivered made it feel even more overwhelming. I wondered if I was obligated to sit through the entire 20-30 minute presentation or if I could just ask to leave with the paperwork and receive the rest of the details via email later. It was a confusing moment, and I felt like I needed to regain some control over the situation.
