Final round interview for Project Manager role after 8 years in Product Management

I'm currently a Senior Product Manager facing a layoff at the end of the month after over 8 years with my company. I've been actively applying for Product Management roles for the last couple of months, but despite a few interviews, I haven't progressed further. In light of this, I've decided to explore opportunities in customer success and project management, and I'm now in the final round of interviews for a Project Manager position at a small company with about 40 employees. This new role would mean a pay cut, as their salary range is between 95K and 125K, compared to my current salary of 145K. However, the position is onsite and only a 20-minute drive from home, with a hybrid option after I gain some experience. I'm contemplating whether it would be unwise to make this move. I'm concerned about the job market and whether a gap on my resume would be acceptable if I decline an offer to collect unemployment while continuing my search for a Product Management role. Alternatively, I could take the Project Manager job and keep looking for better opportunities on the side, but I'm worried about the risk of not succeeding in the new role. Has anyone else faced a similar situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
