Planning to Secure a Part-Time Job by Directly Approaching Local Businesses

I'm currently working full time at a rental company for construction equipment, but I'm finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet. To help with my finances, I'm looking for a second part-time job. However, the thought of going through the job application process again is overwhelming. I live in a central area with many stores and restaurants within walking distance, so I'm wondering if there's a way to bypass the tedious application process. I have a solid employment history and I know I can get and keep a job. I'm considering just walking into local businesses, asking to speak with a manager about part-time opportunities, and handing them my resume directly. I've heard that this approach can work, especially with smaller, locally owned places, but I'm also aware that larger chains usually require online applications. I plan to visit these places during quieter hours and bring a concise resume that outlines my availability around my full-time job. Any tips on how to make this process smoother would be appreciated!
