Withdrawing from in-person interview after preliminary phone discussion

I had a preliminary phone interview today for a position that I realized isn't a good fit for me. I had initially scheduled an in-person interview, but after the phone call, I decided I really don't want to pursue this job. The in-person interview is about 30 miles away, and I don't want to make that trip for a position I'm not interested in. I'm debating whether to just not show up or to send a note to cancel it. I know it's important to communicate, so I think I will send a message to let them know I'm withdrawing from the candidate pool and wish them luck in finding the right fit.
