Reflecting on my campus interview for an AI/software engineering role

I recently had a campus hiring interview for an AI/software engineering role, and I can't stop replaying the experience in my mind. The interview process included a written technical assessment, a group discussion, and a technical interview. I felt good about my performance in the written assessment, which involved coding, CS questions, and a system design diagram. The group discussion also went well, and I contributed actively. However, the technical interview left me feeling unsettled. They started with my introduction and immediately asked about my project and my contributions. I began explaining the problem statement and my role, but they interrupted me before I could finish, which made me wonder if they thought I didn’t know my own project. The pace of the interview was fast, with questions jumping from one topic to another without much time for me to think. Some of the questions included explaining RAG, differences between structured and unstructured data, and questions about AI tools like Claude. I managed to answer several correctly, but I also missed a few. For example, when asked about tools used in RAG, I mentioned vector databases like Pinecone and ChromaDB, but I later realized they were likely looking for frameworks like LangChain. I also misinterpreted a question about Claude’s token limit, thinking it was about usage limits instead of the model's context window. The most frustrating moment was when I second-guessed my answer about CORS; I initially got it right but changed my response under pressure. I felt rushed during the interview, wanting 20-30 seconds to think through my answers, but they often moved on before I could organize my thoughts. Overall, I don't think I completely bombed the interview, but I also don't feel like I aced it. I communicated well, answered several questions correctly, and had a relevant project, but I made mistakes that are now haunting me. I’m left wondering if they interrupted me because they thought I had said enough or if they doubted my knowledge. Has anyone else experienced interviews like this? Did you feel like you messed up, only to find out later that it wasn’t as bad as you thought?
