Today was supposed to be a big day for me as I had a final round interview for a federal job that I was really excited about. Unfortunately, I woke up at 1:30 AM feeling extremely ill and have been stuck in the bathroom ever since. I suspect it might be food poisoning from poultry I had yesterday, as I feel worse than when I had pneumonia in the past. Feeling desperate for a job in my field, I had to make the tough decision to email the interviewer around 6:30 AM to explain my situation and request a reschedule. I offered to be available at any time next week, but I can’t shake the feeling of disappointment and embarrassment for having to back out. This job could have been a significant step towards regaining some normalcy in my life, and now I’m left worrying if they’ll think I’m lying or if they’ll even consider rescheduling. I just hope they understand that I did the right thing by not attending the interview while feeling this way.
