I'm currently feeling stuck in my career. After graduating in a field that hasn't led to much success, I'm working a low-wage job that feels like a dead end. This year, I decided to pivot towards digital marketing, thinking it could open new doors for me. I enrolled in some online courses to learn the fundamentals and started volunteering at an NGO to gain practical experience for my resume. However, my experience there has been frustrating. The organization lacks a clear direction beyond broad goals like 'human rights' and 'raising awareness.' My role has turned into managing their social media, which feels more like running a personal blog than a professional marketing effort. The president prefers using Mastodon, which limits our reach, and while I've created some posts and graphics that received a few likes, I don't feel like I'm making a meaningful impact. I'm starting to doubt whether this experience will help me land an entry-level job or internship in marketing. I'm torn between wanting to give up and feeling like I might be too pessimistic about the situation.
