I recently graduated this past May with a Bachelor's degree in Government and Politics and Data Science from a well-regarded university. Since then, I've been on the job hunt, sending out at least 50 applications, which I realize might not be a huge number compared to others. In the past, during my internship searches, I would typically apply to around ten positions and get interviews, so this experience is quite different for me. Despite having four internships and holding a position on a club board for four years, I haven't received any responses from employers. I'm specifically looking for roles in policy analysis, data analysis, or research assistance, but it seems like the job market is tough right now. I've been wondering how many applications recent graduates usually send out before they hear back from at least one company. I've also been considering advice about networking and possibly looking into local or state government positions, even if they aren't my first choice. It feels a bit disheartening, but I'm trying to stay optimistic and open to different opportunities.
